The Highgrove Estate is situated in Fuquay-Varina, NC. It's a beautifully restored old southern home, adapted for events and weddings. With a banquet building at the rear, and with outside ceremony possibilities. This venue offers a couple many opportunities from an indoor or outdoor ceremony.
I met Elizabeth and Rob upstairs in their individual getting ready rooms. The sheer excitement of the day was buzzing around on this hot August summers day. We made sure to photograph details, getting ready and some candid portraits. Before the ceremony, they did a first look by the main staircase which relieved any nervous tension. Following the ceremony, family portraits at the front of the house, with creatives at the front, inside and later at the back.
A special request by the father of the bride - can we use a shot gun I have in a creative portrait? Let's do it! I setup the scene in a living room setting, with some moody lighting, a little humor and a "protective father" angle to the portrait. We had so much fun creating that portrait with them, and I have to say it's one of my favorites from 2015.
