Kayla noticed some of my work hanging at a local restaurant and immediately new who she wanted to photograph her senior portrait. After a consultation we figured out the style and look of the shoot. And just as importantly the location. Kayla had spent many memorable days on Bald Head Island and wondered if that would be traveling too far. Not at all! I love to travel and Bald Head Island happens to be a fascinating location. Perfect for a fashion style senior portrait shoot. She had carefully picked a handful of clothes to wear for the session. With outfit changes through the session, we figured out together what would work. Bald Head Island is such a cool place to get around. There's no cars, only golf carts and bikes. With the occasional skateboard or rollerblade. We used a couple of golf carts and zipped around the island to various locations.
During the shoot, I really try to understand my clients and their personalities. I want to put them into the right light that compliments how they look, with the right mood and styling. It all boils down to a lot of fun and creativity.
The session couldn't have finished on a more creative note. With a thunderstorm hitting the mainland and the sunsetting. We hit the beach to make use of the sunset, the ocean and as a bonus the thunderstorm. So dramatic and totally thrilling to end the day. Just watching the lightening on the right and then the sunsetting on the left. Absolutely awesome!
